Unless what? How can this be a good thing? I would say to you that this can be a very good and valuable thing! But much depends on you, the parent. This is an area where you have to be very intentional regarding the people in your teenagers life, especially their small group.
During your teen’s life, there are going to be times when other voices will be louder than yours! Other opinions will be considered before yours. Other viewpoints and wisdom will be searched and listened to without regard to yours! So we as parents need to be intentional about investing in those others that surround our teenagers.
Encourage your teen’s small group leader on a weekly basis so that they know you support them. Invest time in your teen’s small group and get to know the other kids and their families. Pray for them, love them in a way that will allow them to speak God’s truth into your teenager’s heart and life.
This is one way to speak indirectly into our teen’s life, but also directly into the lives of those who love our teens!
